John Pye and the Lakeland Radio team were there for the first day of the first ever German style Christmas Market.
Set in the prime location of the town centre, Kendal Christmas Market offers a festive treat to visitors and residents with its stunning Christmas lights, a Gluhwein and Bratwurst Bar, traditional festive food and drinks, as well as alpine chalets with exhibitors from Kendal and the surrounding area selling unique food, gifts and crafts.
There is street entertainment, an ice rink and even artificial snow. Elsa from 'Frozen' will be making a special guest appearance, and children from local schools will be putting on performances in the Market Place. With choirs singing and brass bands playing throughout the weekend, you can expect a vibrant atmosphere at the new Kendal Christmas Market. To top it all off, it’s surrounded by major high street retailers and independent shops combining with the Christmas Market to offer you a fabulous shopping experience.
Alongside all this, Kendal BID has funded a free park-and-ride service from K Village into the town centre from 1-24 December. Parking will also be free in SLDC car parks on every Sunday in December in the lead up to Christmas.
