The AGA shop on Stramongate, Kendal are hosting the Festival of Food's Bake-Off competition this weekend.
John Pye and the Lakeland Radio team called in at the shop this week to chat to the staff about their involvement in the festival, and find out how people can enter their own baking creations into the Bake-Off.
Whilst he was there we thought Pyeman should have a go at baking his very own Lime Drizzle Cake to bring back to the office - well it would be rude not to! So we gave him ingredients and left him in the capable hands of expert baker and AGA shop manager Gaynor.
This is the recipe he followed (it is a very easy all-in-one cake, so have a go!) :
Jaki’s Lime Drizzle
6 oz Self-Raising Flour
2 oz Desiccated Coconut
6 oz Caster Sugar
6 oz Soft Margarine
1 ½ tsp Baking Powder
Grated rind of 3 Limes
6 tbsp Milk
6 oz Granulated Sugar
Juice of 3 Limes
Good splash of Malibu
Mix all cake ingredients together, pour into small roasting tin lined with Bake O Glide. Bake on grid shelf of baking oven for 25 minutes or so. Meanwhile mix topping ingredients together. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before pouring topping over warm cake. Allow to cool completely and then cut into required slices. Freezes very well.
Here is a timelapse video of John baking his cake....

If John Pye can do it, anyone can - seriously.
